Francois CHOUCHAN began to play piano at five years old.

He began his studies in Paris, France. He entered the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris at the age of eleven.
As a student of Yvonne LORIOD-MESSIAEN, Germaine MOUNIER and Pierre REACH, he was awarded unanimously first prize in Piano and unanimously first prize in Chamber Music.
He was also awarded Monique de la Bruchollerie prize.

At the Conservatoire, he was accepted in the Improvement Cycle Piano class and the Improvement Cycle Chamber Music class, where he was instructed by Yvonne LORIOD, Aldo CICCOLINI, Germaine MOUNIER and Bruno RIGUTTO for the piano, and Jean HUBEAU for the Chamber Music.

At the young age of nineteen he won the third prize in the VIOTTI International Piano Competition in Vercelli/Italy.

He performed in several established concert halls as soloist, at the Cite Internationale des Arts, in Paris, at the Centre des Arts et Loisirs at Le Vesinet, at the Salle Cortot at the Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris and at the Bosendorfer Music Center.
In Paris he played with orchestra at Salle Gaveau and at the Berlioz Auditorium in the Schumann Concerto and the Brahms second Concerto.

Attracted to chamber music, he founded a Quartet and then a Trio and performed in several different places as the Sceaux Festival and at the Cite Internationale des Arts in Paris.

During his career, he had the great privilege to meet several Masters:
In Geneva, Nikita MAGALOFF invited him to participate to his summer annual Piano Master Class.
In Paris, Magda TAGLIAFERRO invited him to participate to several master classes at the Salle CORTOT at the Ecole Normale de musique de Paris.
In Perpignan, he had also the great honor to be selected by M.ROSTROPOVITCH to participate with his Trio to his summer Chamber Music Master Class.

Since his young age, one of his biggest aspirations was also to become a movie composer.
Francois was admitted at the SACEM as a composer.

Several years ago, he was selected by the french director Michel DRACH between several other movie composers to write his music score for his last movie “ Il est genial Papy “.
He met also the swiss director Claude D’ANNA and wrote the music score for his movie “Equipe de nuit”.

His life as a musician could not be completed without transmitting his knowledge and sharing his passion for the music.
During several years, he has been a piano teacher at the Conservatoire Municipal de Paris in the 11th district and also at the Conservatoire Municipal de Chatou.
He was also a piano teacher at the Conservatoire Municipal of Rambouillet.

Attracted by the potential of the United States of America’s musical environment, Francois relocated to Los Angeles since 2007.

His deep musicality and sensibility along with his passion, his strong perseverance and open mind are recognized by the professional and the public that regard him as an inspiring, sensitive and creative musician.
